Xbox One Voice Command Delayed for Certain Launch Marketplaces

Microsoft has confirmed that only five locations or marketplaces will be receiving the Xbox One voice command functional with their console on launch day. (U.S., Canada, Germany, France, and the U.K.) All other locations such as Mexico and Australia will be receiving them on a later, unconfirmed date. Microsoft however, did not explain why not all locations will be receiving a voice command feature, but that they are trying their hardest to make them available for all locations as soon as they can.

Later Release Date for Xbox One

It seems it’ll be a little bit longer a wait for fans to get their hands on the new Xbox One. Under section 12 of the rules for the Mountain Dew/Doritos’ Every 2 Minutes: Xbox One contest, the launch date for the new console has a “targeted launch date of late November 2013.” So the rumored November 5 launch may not actually be happening and it looks like Sony will get the first shot at selling the most consoles on day one. Hopefully, by extending the release date, Microsoft can tweak the console to as close to perfection as possible, so gamers aren’t getting “red rings of death” on their brand new Xbox.

Also, Microsoft just renamed the Xbox Live Market Place to the “Xbox Games Store,” as well as retire the Microsoft Points system and use real world currency….finally!

Gforce | 3 Fantom Drive 1 TB Unboxing and Review

I’ve owned only one previous external drive, it was a 2.5″ notebook style drive. This Fantom Drive is a 3.5″ desktop style drive, and it works like a charm. The setup was as easy as just plugging it in, and setting it up to work with my router was also extremely easy. I am extremely happy with the drive and would recommend it to anyone.

USB 3.0

The first thing I had to test was the transfer speeds, it was first tested on my desktop that only holds 7 2.0 USB ports. It took about 4-5 minutes to transfer a 12gb file, I then tested it with my Yoga on it’s USB 3.o port. It took nearly 1 minute 30 seconds to complete the transfer. I was excited to see a drive transfer information that fast. It really makes me wanna head out and purchase a 3.0 USB PCI Card to upgrade my desktop to USB 3.0, I was very pleased and blown away at the transfer speed.

Brushed Back Aluminum Finish

I had to touch up on it’s look. The drive has the impression of a future drive, it looks incredibly stylish. The front and back of the drive is also Aluminum with holes in the finish to keep the drive as cool as possible. The overall look of the drive is nice, and very well polished.

Network Setup

The drive doesn’t have a built-in network feature. Instead you need a router that features a USB port, that way all you do is hook the drive up to the router, and it acts like a media server. You can now access, store, modify files straight from any wireless device in the house without actually having to physically connect the drive to each device. A big upside to this, is being able to access files on your drive on your phone or tablet. Very rarely does a phone/tablet have a USB port, so it’s very nice to be able to use my files even from my phone. Setting up the drive for network use was really easy, the drive comes pre-formatted to NTFS making it easier for the user to use the drive like this.

Overall

The drive is awesome, I couldn’t be more happier with this external drive. It doesn’t make a peep either, it’s really quiet. I also love the stand it comes with, it allows the drive to be placed and used from virtually anywhere. I recommend everyone purchase a drive from Fantom Drives, they know exactly what they are doing.

Xbox One’s New and Improved Chat Headset

Not only is the Xbox One’s chat headset look slightly different from the 360 model, but just like the new One controller, there all improvements that are designed to make the entire online-gaming experience as fun and enjoyable as possible, in this case, being able to hear friends and randoms over the mic more clearly now! Microsoft has recently come out with a test to prove the  audio quality different by comparing the two mics together saying the same sentence, and it definitely is clear that the new one, is the superior headset. The new Xbox One headset will cost $25 dollars, but there will be one bundled in with the purchase of the Xbox One. The only disappointment with the new headset, is that you wont be able to talk to others on a 360 chat headset, but you can send text messages to one anothers Xbox Live gamer tag.

Nintendo 2DS Specs and Size Comparison

The Nintendo 2DS was just recently announced today with a $129.99 price-tag and is set to release on October 12th.

Meant for younger demographics, the 2DS features a slate design and does away with the shell for durability. The 3D functions are also removed, so that way parents don’t have to worry about their younger children damaging their eyes (although the 3DS offers parental controls that allow you to disable the 3D, but I guess Nintendo doesn’t have faith in consumers to realize and utilize).

I’m sure many of you gamers out there have been wanting to see a side-by-side comparison of the Nintendo 2DS alongside the other 3DS models. So here’s a spec chart and a size comparison to check out to see what the 2DS is all about.

BioShock Infinite Board Game: The Siege of Columbia

BioShock Infinite: the Siege of Columbia is the official name of the new BioShock Infinite board game coming first in the U.K. and later in the year world-wide. The supplier, Esdevium Games, will include familiar characters like Songbird and Airship and other pieces that relate to the BioShock Infinite video game. The board game takes place at the same time as the video game and your objective is to take over Columbia as the leaders of the Vox Populi or the Founders faction. If you’re not interested in the board game, there will be new DLC for the BioShock Infinite.

Wii U Deluxe Gets A $50 Pricedrop

The Wii U Deluxe model is getting an official $50 price-cut as of September 20th.

As far as Nintendo has revealed, the deluxe models should still be offering everything that the current models offer, though we should probably expect digital download codes for Nintendo Land instead of physical retail cases, seeing as how the Windwaker HD bundle will come with a download code for the game as well.

The Windwaker bundle coming this Fall beside the price drop.

While totally expected (I predicted this price-drop earlier this month), I’m totally excited that Nintendo has made this decision, as sometimes the company pulls the unexpected. This will undoubtedly help get the Wii U flying off shelves this holiday season.

There has been no word on whether or not the basic model will receive a slash in price as well, or phased out altogether, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for new regarding that model. Stay tuned to GaminRealm for more information.

Super Mario 3D World, WW, and DK: Tropical Freeze Dated

Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze have finally been given release dates.

3D World will be launching on November 22nd, and Tropical Freeze will be launching on December 6th, which is all pretty strange. Remember when 3D World was slated for December and TF was set for November? Seems like Nintendo switched up the releases here.

Along with these two games, Windwaker HD also got an official release date which will be October 4th. But there’s a catch. Gamers will actually be able to download the digital version of the game via the eShop on September 20th, the day the WWHD Wii U bundle will be hitting store shelves. Pretty cool deal from Nintendo here.

The Wii U games are starting to finally roll around. Hopefully they can bring the Wii U out of this ditch and into the fray.

First Human Mind Meld

Yes Star Trek and Star Wars, wooh. Ok, so we all probably knew this was coming but this soon? Two scientists in the University of Washington have achieved the once impossible. This world we live in is becoming more and more a science fiction novel, it is pretty unbelievable. Rajesh Rao sent a brain signal to one of his colleagues over the internet, causing colleague Andrea Stocco to move his right hand on a keyboard. Has anyone seen the film Pacific Rim, where the two pilots are able to meld both minds together to achieve a new level of synchronicity? This is now a reality, the team was connected through a Skype session to coordinate everything and get the math right with pin-point accuracy.

Nintendo Releasing $129.99 2DS

On October 12th, Nintendo is releasing a non 3D version of their 3DS. Same tech but in 2D, but is it a good idea? Sure, but the price difference between this 2DS and the non XL 3DS isn’t very big. It would’ve been nice to see it at $99.99 but I realize that is probably to much to ask. I have never owned a portable Nintendo product, and I have to say $129.99  is looking pretty good to me. I’ll have to give this one a try.
