Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, was blown away by the trailer for the next-gen port of GTA V. So much so, that it made him “depressed”.
“What Rockstar has created and the world they have created is super impressive, and actually when I saw the PS4 version a few days ago I got depressed again,”
“And this is not game design-related it’s just me. The quality that they showed in the PS4 trailer was really impressive.”
Metal Gear Solid V has also been described as an open world game, much like GTA. Hideo Kojima feels as though Metal Gear Solid V will never be able to match up to Rockstar’s title.
“It’s a bit different because Rockstar is going in a very different direction to what I’m trying to create,”
“When we say we’re an open-world game it makes it sound like it’s trying to be the same as what those guys are creating. But this is very different–I’m trying to do a free infiltration game.”
Good job Rockstar, you made an industry legend feel like he needs to step up his game.
GTA V will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC this fall. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has yet to receive a release date.by
