Warning! This article could potentially be revealing the entire roster for Super Smash Bros. 4. If you haven’t seen these leaks yet and want to wait until official reveals, I suggest you turn back now. You have been warned.

For the past few days, this image of the “full” roster for the upcoming Super Smash bros game has been floating around the internet.

People have been debating for a while on whether or not this image is real or fake. Today, highly convincing leaked video footage surfaced showcasing gameplay of unconfirmed characters¬† such as, Bowser Jr., Shulk, and Ganondorf. Unfortunately, all the original footage was only up for a few hours before being taken down by Nintendo, which only further suggests that this leak is indeed real. I saw the gameplay for myself and I have to say, I don’t think there’s much denying that this leak is true. If for some reason it does turn out not to be the real deal, this is by far the most exceptionally done fake I’ve ever seen in my life and others who have seen it agree.

This was posted back in July, and perfectly describes how Bowser Jr. worked in the video, as well as other details shown in the roster above.

According to this, there are still more characters that aren’t seen in the supposed leaked roster. Dixie Kong, Ridley, and Chorus Men are rumored to be joining the battle as well, along with Mewtwo making his return from Melee.

People made note that the Mii Fighters are not on the character selection screen, deeming it to be fake. However, this is because the Mii fighters apparently have their own sub-menu separate from the rest of the characters.

An onslaught of other screenshots popped up as well, all from 3 different leakers, further backing up the roster leak and gameplay footage.

Another rumor floating around from one of said leakers, is that there will be DLC for returning characters that you will notice are missing from the roster.

This “leak”, however, has been rumored to be de-confirmed from the same person who posted it, but that is not known for sure at this time.

So within the past week, it’s been a real mess of leaks and rumors. Normally, I would say take it with a grain of salt as usual, but this is a very special case. With all of the leakers’ information lining up, the inexplicable game footage, and Nintendo removing that footage, I’d say it’s a very safe assumption that these leaks are real, at least for the ones we have pictures and videos for. I feel bad for director, Masahiro Sakurai. He works very hard to give us the best game possible, and make every reveal a surprise. Now that could potentially be ruined. Someone’s getting fired for sure.

That being said, I’m pretty satisfied with the roster overall, but not as much for the remaining characters that have yet to be officially revealed. Shulk is exciting, but most people were already expecting him. The Duck Hunt Dog is definitely interesting. Duck Hunt was a staple game in my childhood, but I don’t find myself as thrilled as I feel I should be. Based off the gameplay footage shown, Ganondorf looks like he still plays horribly. In fact, it looks like they literally ripped him from Brawl and stuck him in the game. When it comes to Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, I can’t say I’m excited. I’ve never been much of a fan of near exact clone characters, so these two leave quite a bitter taste in my mouth, Dr. Mario especially. People were complaining that Lucina should be an alternate skin for Marth since they have many similarities in Fire Emblem and basically the same moveset in Smash. The same could be said for Dark Pit and Pit. However, I kind of understand why they weren’t used as alternate costumes. At the end of the day, they are different characters. It isn’t like Wii Fit Trainer, Robin, or Villager, where they have gender swaps of the same character, they are literally completely different people. Dr. Mario on the other hand is simply Mario as a doctor. I don’t understand why this couldn’t just be an alternate costume. We already have too many Mario characters with the addition of Bowser Jr, so what’s the point of having another slot taken up by a clone. I suppose they are easier to develop since they’re clones of already existing characters, but I’d rather see one unique character than 3 copies. Oh well, maybe they’ll have cool custom moves.

Either way, I can’t be too dissapointed with the roster. While I find it a bit said and kind of weird that Ice Climbers and Wolf won’t be returning, the possibility of them being DLC gives me hope, as well as the possibility of Mewtwo coming back. I just hope Ridley does not get in, but that’s a dead horse at this point.

The game will be out very soon, so it won’t be long until these leaks and rumors are confirmed to be true or not. If they are, what do you think of the results? Would you change anything in the roster?
