The Legend of Zelda director Eiji Aonuma has taken criticism from 2011’s Skyward Sword very seriously; especially on problems with how the open world was handled in that game. According to Aonuma in an interview with IGN, he and his team have a new twist to the formula when it comes to Zelda’s traditional open worlds.
“We actually had some feedback from Skyward Sword, where people were saying, ‘This is not exactly the Zelda game I was looking for, I was looking for a bigger open world.’ Unfortunately, I can’t go into details but I’m hoping to put a surprise, or kind of a twist, on my view of an open world game. I hope that you’ll look forward to it”- Eiji Aonuma
Hopefully the “twist” to the formula can offer some huge improvements to the Zelda series. I’m also hoping that it won’t take much longer for Nintendo to show off more of the title. For now, we can only speculate what Nintendo has in store for Zelda Wii U.by
