An amateur group of developers named, Outer Heaven, were given the green light from Konami to remake the original Metal Gear that released in 1988 for the NES.
This is really cool of Konami to allow a project like this. Most companies would not allow such a thing. They did state however, that Outer Heaven cannot make any profit or take any donations for the endeavor. Konami also sent an email to Outer Heaven stating, “if the project goes well and there will be public interest in it, Konami will surely get to know this and consider further step accordingly.”
That sounds like good news. Would Konami be interested in jumping on board for more remakes? Time will tell. If you want to help out with the project, you can check out Outer Heaven’s site here to see how you may be able to contribute.by
