Metroid Prime Producer: Metroid Prime Would Need to be Continued on NX

A day after Nintendo’s head-scratching E3 Digital Event, Metroid Prime Producer, Kensuke Tanabe has given us some insight into the direction Nintendo is going in. Speaking with Eurogamer, Tanabe expressed the desire to continue the series but made it relatively clear that it most likely wouldn’t be coming to Wii U:

“If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo’s NX console.”

This news is most likely going to upset a lot of Nintendo fans because many thought that a Metroid Prime game was in the works for the Wii U. Apparently that’s not the case. At this point it seems like everyone including Nintendo, is moving on from the Wii U and focusing on the aging 3DS and future NX. It’s concerning because there is no guarantee that the NX will be any better. The last two days have been extremely eye-opening for Nintendo fans; there are a lot of questions that don’t appear to have answers.
