NCAA Not Renewing EA Sports Contract

It has been announced that the NCAA will not be renewing their contract with EA Sports for using the NCAA tag in their college sport games any longer. EA did have this to say, “By now, most fans will have heard that EA’s licensing agreement with the NCAA is set to expire and that we have agreed to part ways. I’m sure gamers are wondering what this means. EA Sports will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks. Our relationship with the Collegiate Licensing Company is strong and we are already working on a new game for next generation consoles which will launch next year and feature the college teams, leagues and all the innovation fans expect from EA Sports.”

Myself personally, I am disappointed that NCAA isn’t renewing the contract with EA, just because its nice to have a close real life experience of playing…say, football for your favorite college team or whatever. I’m sure EA Sports will still make great sport games, but I wonder how sales will turn out without the title, only time will tell.

I miss College Hoop 2k games. Those actually were worth the money spent on them. EA sports titles are just rehashes but everyone already knows that.
