Announcements We Hope to See From Sony’s State of Play

PlayStation‘s second State of Play live-stream episode goes live at 3 p.m. P.T. today and the rumors have been persistently swarming. Mostly because for the first time ever, Sony won’t have a media or floor presence at this year’s E3. This follow’s suit with their decision to pass on their annual PlayStation Experience event at the end of 2018. Instead of holding the traditional E3 media conference, Sony is looking to follow Nintendo‘s format with a slew of new announcements before the exciting month ahead. Aside from the extended look at MediEvil from PlayStation Worldwide studios, here are a few announcements we would love to see during today’s 10 minute State of Play event.

The Last of Us Part II Release Date + Footage

Naughty Dog has been quietly at work since their last outing at E3 2018. With true to life cinematic scenes and cutthroat gameplay – The Last of Us Part II isn’t pulling any punches. We would love to see an official release date for The Last of Us Part II. Naughty Dog Vice President and Director Neil Druckmann recently announced the completion of all mocap work for the title. We’re hoping this means the coming of The Last of Us Part II in 2019. And if we’re not being too greedy, we’d love some new footage as well. That’s never a bad thing.

Ghost of Tsushima Release Date + New Footage

Sucker Punch Studios‘ fresh new tackle on the Hack n’ slash Samurai world dropped jaws with its E3 2018 reveal. The attention to detail left fans howling for more. Ghost of Tsushima is slated for a summer 2019 release, but we would love a pinpoint release window to prepare our wallets for a stimulating jump into the alluring and perilous world of Ghost of Tsushima.

Death Stranding….?

We still Don’t precisely understand whats going on in the head of Hideo Kojima. That doesn’t make us any less excited to see whats new for the bewildering world of Death Stranding. The Walking Dead‘s Star: Norman Reedus. A baby. Invisible creatures. floating bodies. Hopefully today’s State of Play can offer up some more information to such a complex-thought provoking world. Rumor is Hideo Kojima just finished up a brand new trailer. lets hope the rumors are correct.

Return to Shinra

Cloud and friends are returning to the PlayStation 4 in style. With a fully fleshed out new generation remake, fans have been waiting in agony for Square Enix to throw a bone. Square has gone silent on the project since PlayStation Experience 2015. We expect Square Enix to have a presence at E3 this year, but it would be nice to get a sneak peak on the long awaited remake.

We have many more requests we’d love to see from today’s State of Play, but we thought we’d keep our list short and sweet. We’re sure you share interest in some of our personal picks, but what announcements would you like to see from Today’s State of Play? More PSVR titles? new IPs? PlayStation 5 news? Let us know in the comments below.
