Bandai Namco, Asatsu-DK, and Aniplex recently announced that they will be creating a joint company called Anime Consortium Japan, Inc. or ACJ.
The company plans to create a brand new anime streaming service overseas with titles both old and new in a number of languages. It will launch on November 7 and will be fully operational by April 2015.
One billion yen ($9.1 million) is being invested towards the project by the Cool Japan initiative with additional shareholders including: Toei Animation, Sunrise TMS Entertainment, Nihon Ad Systems, and Dentsu inc. Bandai namco Games’ executive vice president Shin Unozawa.
This is definitely good news for the industry, and will surely help it grow and reach new audiences! Look out Crunchyroll, you may have some competition.
