A week ago, Todd Howard from Bethesda said in an interview that during the development of Fallout 4, Bethesda had ported Skyrim to the Xbox One in order to learn the new hardware.
“The first thing we did was port Skyrim to Xbox One.” After a brief pause, he quickly blurted out, “Don’t get your hopes up yet.” -Todd Howard via Game Informer
There was an emphasis that the porting of Skyrim was strictly an exercise for the Bethesda team to familiarize themselves with the the new iteration of hardware. While it is possible that we could still see this port of Skyrim make it to store shelves, it is probably of low priority to Bethesda as they are most likely working on DLC content for Fallout 4, which released today. It is also possible that Skyrim for 8th generation consoles could support PC mods much like Fallout 4 will. It will be interesting to see what Bethesda will do.
