CoD: Ghosts Officially Confirmed to Be 720p on Xbox One

Man oh man will this undoubtedly be some ammo for the console war. Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin has come out and officially confirmed that Call of Dut: Ghosts will be running in 720p on Xbox One while the PS4 version will be running at native 1080p.

“Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven’t had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4.  We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction.  Can’t wait for next week’s launch.”

Due to the way the Xbox One was built, the game will be up-scaled to 1080p of course, but you would think that a supposed powerful $500 next-generation console would be able to run heavily modified Doom Engine (1998) game in native 1080p with it’s modern tech.

Earlier this week, Digital Foundry has also confirmed that the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 will run in 720p while the PS4 version will be running in 900p. As expected, it seems that Sony’s next generation system will have the edge for the majority of these multiplats.

Perhaps the system isn’t as powerful as we’re lead to believe?

  1. I can’t believe people are even discussing the power difference between the xbone and ps4. i thought it was ridiculous enough to discuss the difference between Wii U and those systems let alone this. Since when did people watch games instead of play them?!
