EA’s Online Pass

I know I have already covered this article before and the news has been out there for a while now, but jut in case you didn’t know, EA announced maybe a month ago that they will be stopping all online pass requirements for new and old titles published under EA. EA did this so the company could still make money of their games when a person bought it new, trades it in and when someone purchases that game, “used,” the game store that sold it to that customer wouldn’t receive all the profits and would still require the player to purchase an online pass, I think used to be $20 dollars to be able to play online. Many people are now wondering that since Microsoft reversed its used game policy that EA may also reverse theirs, however a quote from John Reseburg, Senior Director at EA said, “There is no change to our decision to discontinue Online Pass. It is dead,” he revealed. “As we said a few weeks ago, none of our new EA titles will include online pass, and we are removing it from existing games as well. Nothing else on today’s news, but did want to be clear that our online pass decision was based on player feedback, and there’s no change.” Lets go gamers for giving them the negative feedback to change their minds haha!
