Today, in a live stream event hosted by Mike Ross, EVO organizer Joey “MrWizard” Cuellar revealed the official game lineup for the fighting tournament.
These games are:
- Ultra Street Fighter IV
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Guilty Gear XRD -SIGN-
- Killer Instinct
- Mortal Kombat X
- Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
- Super Smash Bros Melee
- Tekken 7
Super Smash Bros. fans were definitely happy to see this list. There was a divide in the community on whether Super Smash Bros. for Wii U would be at EVO, or if Melee would. Now it looks like both sides got their wish. I’m glad to see that Smash 4 will get a chance to shine without taking away from Melee. Hopefully, Smash 4 doesn’t die out the way Brawl did, and we’ll continue to see it alongside Melee for years to come.
This will also be Tekken 7’s global tournament debut, making for a very interesting event.
EVO will be held July 17-19 at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Registration is reported to begin “very soon”.
