Sony and Square Enix sent the gaming world by storm when they announced a remake of the legendary Final Fantasy VII. According to the game’s director Tetsuya Nomura, there will not be any new characters added that weren’t in the original PS1 game. However, there will be some gameplay improvements to modernize the game, whilst still keeping within the spirit of the original. Nomura is shooting for a more “realistic” gameplay style, but he assures fans of the original that the original game’s charm will remain intact. He’s doing his best to stay true to the original, but he’s also changing enough to give the remake its own identity.
It seems that Nomura is really aiming for a great balance of old and new with this remake. Final Fantasy VII is a classic and one of my favorite games of all time, but the remake can’t just be a copy of the original, and Nomura knows this.by
