Today Nintendo gave its fans the first Nintendo Direct since the passing of president Satoru Iwata. It was definitely an above-average Direct with some really exciting announcements. Here’s the rundown of all the news.
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD was announced for Wii U. It will feature new features and enhanced visuals. Its release date is March 4, 2016.
- A Wolf Link amiibo will be made in tandem with Twilight Princess HD. It will also have compatibility with Zelda Wii U.
- Preordering Twilight Princess HD will get you the game’s soundtrack.
- The Legend of Zelda Wii U was confirmed for release in 2016.
- A Black Friday bundle Wii U bundle including Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Splatoon will be available. 3DS XL bundles including Super Mario 3D Land will also be available.
- Pokken Tournament releases on Wii U in 2016.
- A limited-edition Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card will be included in the first print-run of Pokken Tournament.
- Star Fox Zero releases on Wii U on April 22, 2016.
- A completely free update to Splatoon adds 40 new pieces of gear and a brand new map. Both updates will be available by 11/13/2015.
- Super Mario Maker will allow for advanced searching for stages on PC or mobile in December, 2015.
- Data packs will be downloadable for purchasers of the physical version of Xenoblade Chronicles X to improve overall performance. The packs will be included automatically in the download version.
- Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow Versions will be coming to 3DS Virtual Console on February 27, 2016.
- Hyrule Warriors: Legends on 3DS will include a female version of Link, named Linkle.
- Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam releases for 3DS on January 22, 2016.
- Fire Emblem Fates will include three versions of the game- Birthright, Conquest and Revelation. You will be able to buy the other version digitally for $19.99 if your first at full price. A retail Special Edition will also be released for $79.99, and it will include all three versions of the game in one box.
- Using Animal Crossing amiibo cards will unlock new game modes to play in Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festval.
- Free DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes will arrive on December 2, 2015. It will add new outfits and a new set of stages called the Den of Trials.
- Dragon Quest VII and VIII will both release on the 3DS in 2016.
- Free-to-Start Pokemon Picross will come to 3DS in early December, 2015.
- Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife will be a DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. More information will be coming in December.
