Nintendo Will Be Skipping the E3 Stage Once Again

Nintendo has revealed some of their upcoming plans for E3 2014 this year, and unfortunately, appearing back on-stage is not included in the program. Instead, Nintendo will be hosting a “Nintendo Digital Event” at 9am PST on June 10th. This is not to be confused as a Direct, as Nintendo has labled it as a “new video program” that they’ll use to reveal and detail upcoming gaming experiences on Nintendo’s hardware.

Nintendo Digital Event

Every year, Nintendo looks for the best way to show its games and share its news with fans, media and other key audiences. In 2013, Nintendo decided to forgo a traditional press conference and use a video – in that case a Nintendo Direct – to share its news from E3. The company is building on that approach at E3 2014 with the “Nintendo Digital Event,” a new kind of video program that will reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond. The Nintendo Digital Event will air at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 10.

Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3

This year, Nintendo will offer fans a deeper look at Nintendo’s biggest games of E3, with information directly from the source. The “Treehouse,” the Product Development department at Nintendo of America, will provide in-depth game demos live and unscripted from Nintendo’s booth. This new program will be live streamed during all hours of the E3 show. Fans can get settled in, open their browsers and experience the Nintendo games at E3 like never before.

While Nintendo didn’t outright state that they won’t be appearing back on the Nokia stage for a traditional E3 conference, this information seems to confirm it anyway. “Digital” event essentially confirms that they will once again be going for a live-stream-only approach. Personally, I must say that I am sorely disappointed that the company is once again straying away for the stage. But from the looks of things, it sounds like this “Digital Event” is going to be a Nintendo Direct on absolute steroids.

And the new Treehouse presentations sound like a truly unique and interesting idea.

  1. alas i never really cared about how nintendo showed the game as long as its shown and it sounds dope. i can understand ur disappointment since ur heading to ur first e3

  2. o_O………

  3. I fell like this is best. It seems as of right now Nintendo doesn’t have much to show and if anything them getting on stage with Sony and Microsoft would make them look bad.
